MARYLAND SECURITY DEPOSITS

For starters, your security deposit, by law, cannot be more than the equivalent of two months' rent or $50, whichever is more. You must be given a receipt for the deposit (it can be included in the lease), and your landlord can be fined for not providing one.  See our Maryland Security Deposit Guide.

You should also be informed, in writing, of your right to be present at the inspection of the apartment when the time comes for you to move out. See our guide to Normal Wear and Tear
