HUD stands for HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT. HUD'S mission is to increase homeownership, support community development and increase access to affordable housing free from discrimination. To fulfill this mission, HUD will embrace high standards of ethics, management and accountability and forge new partnerships particularly with faith-based and community organizations that leverage resources and improve HUD's ability to be effective on the community level.

HUD offers many forms of assistance through many programs and organizations. Following are some examples offered by HUD. Check with your local community offices or with a local charity in your area. Homes, when available, are usually offered to a local organization for rehabilitation, enabling home ownership and / or rental housing.

Numerous federal agencies have properties to sell. In fact, HUD sells both single family homes and multifamily properties. Our guides will help you understand the process and offerings from Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and other federal and state agencies.
